Transit Dilemma

The East End of Long Island and public transport, unlike love and marriage, do not go together. It should not be that way. Indeed, one lesson over the years here: when public transport is expected, the runners come.
Travel on the East End is self-justified. And there was mounting because of congestion, especially during the holiday season. This July 4th weekend featuring the bumper to bumper traffic on the roads over several, including Route 27 between Amagansett and Southampton.
Meanwhile, on the same weekend there was a breakthrough in transit here: as expected Sunday and holiday bus service. Roll in a "pilot" program was the main East End County bus, S-92. It winds Pointe East along the North Fork in Greenport and Riverhead, south through Flanders to Hampton Bays and east of Southampton Village, Water Mill, Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor North. Then it travels south again to East Hampton, clash with the 10C that passes between East Hampton and Montauk, who also started Sunday and holidays from service.
